Baal worship is a super major problem in Bible day both OT and NT.

Baal worship included worship of many gods. One of their major gods was a fertility pagan god they worship to get good farm crop and fertile animals,  so they can get lots of money.

Fornication was to join in the sex orgy to the fertility pagan god which was part of Baal worship, as we see in Numbers 25: 1-9, which Paul calls "fornication" in 1 Cor 10:8   see all the fornication verses below they all reflex Numbers 25:1-9 what God got very angry over. Not SEX per say, but using sex to trick them into joining in the worship of one of Baal god-- fertility pagan god.

Nu 25 clearly shows the correct definition of the word fornication.

Baal worship was a super major serious  problem in the Bible days. see all the Baal worship verses below.

Even in the NT it was a major problem.1cor10:8

Jewish men knew they all had sexual freedom, but Paul is telling them reminding them of the Baal worship back in Nu 25 that they were doing the same thing as they did in Nu 25 that Got God very angry with them.

Define Sexually immoral. Is Idolatry part of Fornication in the Bible? Is Idolatry called Fornication?

Main index page for Pro-Sexuality and Liberated Christians

The correct definition of the word “fornication” is found in Number 25.  Paul defines the word “fornication” by referring back to Number 25, which describes the word correctly. The Bible dictionaries only reflex how people use or misuse a word.

The Bible, itself, clearly defines this word correctly for us. (not the man made dictionary.)

Men sexual freedom was limited only by not using sexual freedom to have sex as partner of worship a pagan god as we see  fornication in Both the OT and NT  in Numbers 25:1-9 and 1 Cor 10:8.

1 Corinthians 10:8

“Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. “

Numbers 25:1

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom ()  with the daughters of Moab.

25:2

And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

25:3

And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.

Fornication part of Baal worship's pagan fertility god. Baal worship had many gods.

Fornication was the using of your body to have sex with a cultic temple prostitute to worship another god, deity. Giving your mind and body to worship another deity. To worship a fertility god so they could have the promise to get good farm crops.

God designed sexuality and said it was very good. What is bad is using your body sexuality to worship other gods and having sex with women who are worshipping idols and other deities.. This make God very angry.

Compare, 1 Cor 10:8 to Numbers 25:1-9 This is what Paul was refering to.

1 Cor. 10:8Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Numbers 25:9And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand

25:1And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

25:2And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

25:3And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.

25:9And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

Act 15 is related to Baal's  fertility pagan god worship to get good farm crops make lots of money.  They know jewish men have sexual freedom so they trick them into a sex orgie to seduce them to come and worship the fertility pagan god part of Baal worship as in Nu 25 and  1 Cor 10:8

Acts 15: 19 And so my judgment is that we should stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God, 20 except that we should write to them and tell them to abstain from eating meat sacrificed to idols, from sexual immorality, and from consuming blood or eating the meat of strangled animals.

21 For these laws of Moses have been preached in Jewish synagogues in every city on every Sabbath for many generations."

It is written to the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia. Greetings!

24 "We understand that some men from here have troubled you and upset you with their teaching, but they had no such instructions from us.

25 So it seemed good to us, having unanimously agreed on our decision, to send you these official representatives, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 who have risked their lives for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 So we are sending Judas and Silas to tell you what we have decided concerning your question. 28 "For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay no greater burden on you than these requirements:

29 You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or eating the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell."

30 The four messengers went at once to Antioch, where they called a general meeting of the Christians and delivered the letter.

31 And there was great joy throughout the church that day as they read this encouraging message.

Acts 21:20 After hearing this, they praised God. But then they said, "You know, dear brother, how many thousands of Jews have also believed, and they all take the law of Moses very seriously.

21 Our Jewish Christians here at Jerusalem have been told that you are teaching all the Jews living in the Gentile world to turn their backs on the laws of Moses. They say that you teach people not to circumcise their children or follow other Jewish customs.

22 Now what can be done? For they will certainly hear that you have come.

23 "Here's our suggestion. We have four men here who have taken a vow and are preparing to shave their heads.

24 Go with them to the Temple and join them in the purification ceremony, and pay for them to have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that the rumors are all false and that you yourself observe the Jewish laws.

25 "As for the Gentile Christians, all we ask of them is what we already told them in a letter: They should not eat food offered to idols, nor consume blood, nor eat meat from strangled animals, and they should stay away from all sexual immorality."

26 So Paul agreed to their request, and the next day he went through the purification ritual with the men and went to the Temple. Then he publicly announced the date when their vows would end and sacrifices would be offered for each of them.

27 The seven days were almost ended when some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul in the Temple and roused a mob against him.

Balaam, Balac, Baal, Baal worship as  we clearly see in Nu 25:1-9,  1 Cor 10:8,  include worship to this pagan  fertility god which include sex orgies to worship this pagan  fertility god so they get the promise of good farm crops. Some of the girls would give Human Baby Sacrifice to this pagan  fertility god which is one of the god in the Baal worship.

Paul define this to be fornication. 1 Cor 10:8 the description of fornication is found in Nu 25: 1-8 which is major part of Baal worship.

They would use sex to trick the people to join them in worshipping Baal.

Re 2:20 - Context (these people where idol worshippers.)

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
