The correct definition of the word “fornication” is found in Number 25.  Paul defines the word “fornication” by referring back to Number 25, which describes the word correctly. The Bible dictionaries only reflex how people use or misuse a word.

The Bible, itself, clearly defines this word correctly for us. (not the man made dictionary.)

At creation God gave all creation sexual freedom to have many sex partners over a life time  to all creation at creation include humans. King David  2 Sam 12:8, King Solomon SOS 6:8 unlimited sex partner given at creation to all creation by God.

Men sexual freedom was limited only by Adultery and by not using sexual freedom to have sex as part of worship to a pagan fertility god as we see  fornication in Both the OT and NT  in Numbers 25:1-9 and 1 Cor 10:8.

Fornication was in the whole Bible time both OT and NT times a major problem.

They were surrounded by Baal fertility pagan god worshipers in both OT and NT.

In Nu 31:17 God gave 32,000 ”pagan young girls  as concubines to Israelite' s  that they did NOT join in the pagan fertility god sex orgy worship of the fertility pagan god, part of the many gods of Baal worship.

Fornication Described in both OT Numbers 25: 1-9 and in NT  2 Cor 10:8.

This shows God is very pro-polygamy even with young pagan girls is OK,  BUT NOT OLD pagan women which join in with the pagan fertility pagan god worship sex orgy and set in their pagan fertility god thinking and pagan worshiping  ways.

Nu 31:17 "Now kill all the boys . And kill every woman who has slept with a man, (join in worship pagan fertility god sex orgies to worship pagan god as in Nu 25: 1-9) but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. (virgins that proven that they did not join in worship pagan fertility god sex orgy part of Baal worship to fertility god) (From the NIV Bible, Numbers 31:17)"

Baal worship had many pagan gods: sun god, moon god, many other gods, one of them was a Fertility pagan god where in worship by having  a sex orgy to worship the fertility god to get promise of good farm crop and lots of fertility in crops, animals, and themselves be fertile. More fertility means lot more money.

If wives join in sex with others without the husband's permission ahead of time, would be adultery. Wife swapping is ok, if  with permission from husband or father by mutual agreement mutual permission honoring his authority over his owned women (wives or daughters or concubines).

At creation God gave all creation sexual freedom to have many sex partners over a life time  to all creation at creation include humans. King David  2 Sam 12:8, King Solomon SOS 6:8 unlimited sex partner given at creation to all creation by God.

Two limitations to the  sexual freedom: No fornication (defined above) and no adultery (honor the man authority over his owned women) but wife swapping is ok that is not adultery, but done by mutual agreement.  Or loaning your wife to another man is ok and not adultery. Adultery is without any mutual agreement or mutual permission.

Women sexual freedom is limited by male authority over her. Husbands or fathers can give her as much sexual freedom as they want to. Like wife swapping, or “open marriage” or letting her have sex with a friend with permission.  If no male authority over her then she also would have unlimited sexual freedom as the all other were given at creation.

1 Corinthians 10:8

“Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. “

Numbers 25:1

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom ()  with the daughters of Moab.

25:2

And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

25:3

And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.

25:9And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

Fornication

Fornication was the using of your body to have sex with a cultist pagan temple prostitute join in pagan sex orgy worship another pagan fertility god, deity. Giving your mind and body to worship another pagan deity. To worship a pagan  fertility god so they could have the promise to get good farm crops.

God designed sexuality and said it was very good. What is bad is using your body sexuality to worship a pagan fertility god and having sex with women who are worshiping pagan fertility idols and other pagan deities. This make God very angry.

Compare, 1 Cor 10:8 to Numbers 25:1-9 This is what Paul was referring to.

1 Cor. 10:8Neither let us commit fornication, (“Fornication” or “porneia” or “sexual immoral”) as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Fornication is clearly described in Nu 25. Whichis where Paul is referring to Fornication.

Numbers 25:9And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand

NU 25:1And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

25:3And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. …
